I am very passionate about printing, and believe your success is our success.
Whether you’re innovating in medicine, creating tech wonders, educating our future, showcasing at a tradeshow, or supporting a noble cause, our diverse range of printed materials are at your service.
It’s because of you that our hard-working team doesn’t just clock in and out. We’re fueled by your creativity and inspired by your innovations.
So, when I see one of the young new hires chosen as “Employee of the Month” for December it warms my heart. Deiber Hernandiz, is a living testament that print continues to spark innovation for the next generation.
Deiber is from Columbia, and started working here in July of 2022 and although English is his 2nd language, we have agreed that I would practice Spanish, if he would talk to me in English, and so it began.
Our training program is the lifeblood of our organization as we train a new generation of craftsmen, that will know the old school ways and the new ways, as doing both, elevates the final product.
Emigdio, one of our senior employees, began the task of passing down his expertise, instilling the love for precision and quality that make us stand out. Deiber is proof of this transfer of knowledge. He started on the multi-binder, mastering the art of saddle stitch—a skill few others have. This machine, unique to us, does it all: collates, stitches, and 1-face trims.
From there, Deiber started to learn the folder. It’s very technical, as we do a lot of pharmaceutical folds here at JP Graphics, and the folds must be accurate and perfect, and with the lightweight stock, there can be no tearing or blemishes of any kind to pass the industry’s strict QA requirements.
When Norbi and Emigdio were both away, Deiber was faced with another unique challenge – mastering the art of cutting. If it’s not square, you cannot print, fold, or saddle stitch with any accuracy, every single detail matters.
With the comments from the managers, and more importantly his immediate managers, you will see why it makes me proud to write this.
- “Deiber has improved so much. Running the folders and the stitchers. I don’t worry if Norbi takes time off, as the team can handle it.” ~ Claudia
- “Deiber is truly getting it now. Understanding the multi-binder and the folders. I don’t have to spend so much time checking (although I will never stop). I can begin to train the new people and get more machinery running here.” ~ Norbi
- “Deiber gets me the 1st box counts, so I can make the labels and get the job ready to ship. The sooner I get the information, I can make the labels and packing slips, and when I have to go out to help with deliveries, he helps me receive shipments in the warehouse, leaving them for me to put away.” ~ Miguel
- “I can push Deiber to want more, he’s definitely the most improved. He is a happy guy, always smiling, and talking in the lunchroom. He LOVES Soccer first, but also the Sharks and Warriors, so we are sending him to some games, to see if he has the JP luck! – Only winners here.” ~ Joan
So, the next time you’re looking for a dose of motivation, think about Deiber. His journey embodies the resilience, joy, and constant quest for improvement that we all should strive for. Thank you Deiber for being the inspiration we need to see in the world of print.
