Joan Escover was proud to participate in the TAP Mentoring Program this year. In late July 2020, HP and Dscoop partnered to launch the Talent Attraction Program (TAP). Joan was eager to lend her time and guidance to her two mentees during virtual meetings, culminating in a virtual graduation session in late November 2020.

Joan Escover, Founder and Owner of JP Graphics Inc. served as a mentor to two TAP program participants. One of them, Zille Huma Humayun, is a trained doctor who reminded Joan of the life lesson to never stop learning. During their conversations, Zille learned how printing is integral to the healthcare industry. Together, they designed personalized stationery that could help Zille stand out from others as she applies for jobs.

Joan’s other mentee, Irma Brillantes, is interested in marketing and social media and quickly proved the win-win spirit of the TAP program. Joan shared with Irma that JP Graphics wanted to get more promotional products business and that the company wanted to use social media more effectively. Irma analyzed JP Graphics’ social media metrics and discovered the company would benefit from more effective search engine optimization and use of graphics.

Joan and Irma collaborated to create targeted digital marketing pieces aimed at prospects likely to need promotional items for the 2020 holiday season. Irma researched and recommended different promo options (aprons, ornaments, cookware and more), and put together a playbook for JP Graphics for how to best promote those options through social media and email marketing.

The plan worked. Upon sending the promotions, JP Graphics immediately received orders for “Monthly Special” products. “Irma turned our regular Tuesday emails into something with more traction and a better open rate,” Joan says. “She’s taught me a lot more than I’ve taught her, yet I’ve also given her the passion that I believe print affects everything and everybody – that it’s a form of communication that’s so meaningful.”
