What a vibrant May 2025 at JP Graphics!
Our presses were buzzing with graduation programs and medical/pharma print and packaging projects.
On the digital side, we churned out programs, tags, and a flood of marketing materials. It’s no surprise, then, that our Employee of the Month is none other than our stellar new Customer Service Representative, Guadalupe Zamora.
Lupe joined JP Graphics in November 2024 as the daughter-in-law of our very own Claudia Rubio. I was on the hunt for a fresh CSR—someone with no prior experience but a hunger to learn.
My goal? To personally train them in our meticulous processes for medical work, teaching the “whys” behind our methods and instilling a deep understanding of the print business and JP Graphics’ vast capabilities, from printing to our impressive array of embellishments.
As I shifted my focus to packaging, I needed someone to take over LPCH after Mike Day’s retirement. Lupe, a proud SJSU graduate—Go Spartans!—brought her proficiency in Excel and Word to the table, effortlessly handling formal quotes. I spent time teaching her our Docket System, emphasizing its critical role in medical work: one part, one docket, serving as the LOT for Certificates of Conformance or Faires often required. Lupe quickly mastered spotting revisions or discrepancies between purchase orders and prior work orders.
Next, I introduced her to pricing, which lifted a huge weight off my shoulders. She started with reprints, then progressed to understanding press layouts and paper choices. It wasn’t long before she was coordinating with the bindery, checking supplies, referencing our vendor binder, and ensuring items—sometimes even paper—were ordered promptly. I often reminded her of my dad’s adage: Prior Planning Prevents Poor Performance. Stay on top of the process, and it won’t fail.
Lupe’s biggest task? Keeping me on track. She ensures quotes and dockets are printed and ready when I return from meetings, allowing me to dive into work and teach her for the future. As the saying goes, Give a man a fish, you feed them for a day; teach a man to fish, and they’re fed for a lifetime. With Lupe handling these responsibilities, I’m freed up to build relationships with our packaging partners, develop presentations like Take It Up a Notch with Embellishments, and close deals—such as the installation of our new Skandacor Digital Die-Cutter and the upcoming stringing machine, just in time for the holiday season with promotional partners like Jack Nadel International.
In just six months, Lupe has transformed from a new hire into a mini-me, excelling in follow-through and always eager to learn more. The managers’ feedback says it all:
- “Lupe picks things up fast. I hand her phone calls from Joan or POD requests, and she’s all over it.” ~ Michelle
- “Lupe’s improving so much—handling the Xerox and mailings from start to finish.” ~ Norbi
- “She’s learning tons and always offers help. But it’s Lupe’s insights on job priorities for delivery or will-call that keep us on track.” ~ Claudia
- “Lupe’s writing job tickets and always looking for more to do.” ~ Debbie
- “She caught on so quickly, now helping with mailings too. Lupe’s getting it done.” ~ Joe
- “I wish I could clone Lupe—she’s vital. I want her to dive into sales because she knows how to get things done. With her, I see the light at the end of the tunnel after COVID’s sales hit. This young team believes, like I do, that everything is better with print.” ~ Joan
Lupe, your knack for keeping customers happy and projects on point is the ink in our press—thank you for making JP Graphics shine!
